Tears for an Elephant

In the time since I last blogged, I have changed my hair color four times, fallen in love with Alchemy Gothic and Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs, developed a bizarre fixation on Dani Filth, spent a stifling weekend in the wilds of Pennsylvania, and cried over an elephant that died a century ago.

Failed Artistic Ventures

I know, I know. I keep forgetting to blog. While I would normally consider this a bad thing with lazy connotations, right now it just means I'm pretty immersed in writing. I've narrowed my in-progress list down from more than two dozen stories to just three, all of which are now in the second draft stage. Can I take a minute to just say: Yay me!

Tequila Angel - Excerpt & Release Info

If LiveJournal didn't hate me, I'd be posting woohoo's about my new release, Tequila Angel.  Alas, LiveJournal exists solely to vex me, with its auto-formating and refusal to accept cuts.  Therefore I post a link to my other non-evil blog, where I have release info posted along with an excerpt.

Rain, Rain

I find myself in a bizarrely good mood today. Maybe it's knowing I have a story coming out tomorrow (about which I am ridiculously excited). Or maybe it's the rain. I always perk up in the rain. Although it's a little disappointing that this is all I can see from my office window:

The Little Things

Today I am practicing being grateful for the little things. Just one more step on the way to becoming a healthy, normal person. Which is kind of like taking the stairs to the top of the Empire State Building on a really hot, humid day.

Vampires Ink

In pondering my latest story, I've come across an interesting problem.  My character Gage is a vampire who died when he was a thirty-eight year old cop who'd lived a responsible, respectable life focused on helping others.  When I see him in my mind though, I see him in his current state as a vampire, complete with full sleeve tattoos and a labret spike.  But I can't see him getting tattooed or pierced as a human; it just wasn't his style then.  Which leaves me with the Big Question:  Can a vampire get tattooed?

Writing Cycles...

I don't really understand the human condition.  Sometimes I feel like I must be an alien who got dropped off here as a baby.  If you think it's far-fetched, try reading Scott Mandelker's From Elsewhere.  Not that I think I am.  From elsewhere, I mean.  Just saying.  Rule number one in the Book of Blake: Rule nothing out.
